Meet The Teacher

All families are invited to come to the school from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening to tour your child’s classroom and be introduced to our staff.   This will be a brief introduction to the classroom setting and not a time for a student progress update.  We look forward to seeing many of our families on Thursday, Oct. 9th!

LEARNING COMMONS NEWS

This week in the Learning Commons we have been circulating text books and class novel study sets. Students have been excited to see the new Medieval Magic decorations and we have begun to share some ideas about fairytales. Intermediate students have entered the “Wild about Harry” (Potter) contest and the draw will be held next week. Check out this short video showing some student’s ideas about fairytales.

Diwali

We are beginning to plan ways of celebrating this important festival during the week of Oct. 20th.   Students who are interested in performing in our assembly are encouraged to practice their talents and be ready for auditions next week!  Stay tuned for more details and a schedule of events.

Student Planner

We encourage all students in Grades 1-7 to purchase a School Planner at a cost of $5.00. Included in the planner is our school code of conduct, school calendar and school district information. We find this to be an excellent tool for facilitating home/school communication, as well as for developing our students’ organizational skills.  Please send cash or cheque (payable to Georges Vanier Elementary) to school as soon as possible, or inform the teacher if you are unable to pay, due to financial constraints.
