Welcome back to another school year at Georges Vanier! We look forward to reconnecting with all of our students and families this coming week. GV staff have been working hard during the past few weeks – cleaning and polishing the school, registering students, organizing materials, setting up classroom spaces, planning, learning together, and more!
Tuesday, Sept. 8: student are in session for one hour only, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. See posted maps and signs which mark grade group entry doors. Parents are invited to the gym for a casual information session with Mr. Dekerf (Principal) and Ms. Dhaliwal (Vice Principal). Coffee is provided.
Wednesday, Sept. 9 – 11: regular hours from 8:30 – 2:30, students are in grade groups and learning about our school-wide “Kindness Counts” theme. Class assignments will be finalized during during the following week.

New Bell Schedule
The following new bell schedule will be in place to align with the end of the school year on June 23rd.
- 8:30 Welcome Bell
- 8:35 Class Begins
- 10:00 – 10:15 Recess break outside
- 11:48 Lunch break outside
- 12:10 Eat Lunch inside
- 12:30 Classes resume
- 2:30 Dismissal
For health and safety reasons, we want to remind families that our school is “Nut Aware”. We have students and staff members with life threatening nut allergies. Please do not bring nuts or not products to school.
We ask that all GV community members refrain from wearing perfumes, colognes or other fragrances within our school. We have staff members who are highly allergic and sensitive to scents.
Multi-aged / Combined / Split Classes
As in previous years we will have a number of combined grade classes at Georges Vanier. We have some research information to share with you on this topic.
