We are so very proud of the ways in which our GV community showed great respect during our recent Remembrance Day assembly. Thank you for the generous donations to the Poppy Campaign in support of retired veterans and their families. Also, thanks to the many student who came to our assembly dressed in uniform. We are very proud of your commitment to learning and service.
We warmly welcome Ms. James as our new grade 4/5 teacher, replacing Ms. Copeland.
FreshGrade and CSL – Communicating Student Learning
All of our Vanier students and families are now receiving regular updates about student learning via FreshGrade. This communication tool should keep parents well informed about where children are at with their learning, next steps, and how parents can best support the learning process at home. These ongoing updates through Freshgrade will take the place of Term 1, 2 and 3 report cards.
On Dec. 10 @ 1:00 p.m. we will host a FreshGrade learning session for parents (English & Punjabi). We will also have an early dismissal @ 1:30 p.m. on this day, to facilitate further communication about student learning and goal setting. Always feel free to touch base with your child’s teacher or Mr. Dekerf / Ms. Dhaliwal about CSL.
Collecting Coffee Cans
If anyone has large, empty, clean coffee or hot chocolate cans (with snap on lid) they are willing to donate to the school, Ms. A. Dhaliwal would really appreciate them. She requires 24, one per division. Please send it with your child to school and they can deliver it to room 102. Thank you!
Learning Commons News
The Georges Vanier Learning Commons has a great selection of titles featuring diverse families. Here are a few favourites that celebrate diversity amongst families in our school and community.
