Principal / Vice Principal’s Message:  CSL and Early Dismissal

Early this week a letter will come home to all families with reminders about accessing your child’s FreshGrade portfolio and reflecting on learning that has taken place this fall.  Parents who are feeling unsure about FreshGrade or have questions about accessing the site can come to our parent session in the gym on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.  – Punjabi translation will be provided.   Thursday is also an early dismissal day and teachers will be available to meet with parents to review FreshGrade or talk more about student progress and goal setting.  Please call the office to make an appointment, 604-596-1030.

Kindergarten Learning Story

The kindergarten students have been doing several walks and lessons every week in the forest behind the school. We have noticed that there is a community garden next to the park and on Wednesday they received a tour. Students looked at several different vegetables that were still growing and they even got to take some samples back to the school.

Once back at the school, the students explored the different vegetables and learned a lot about these new foods. Students then wrote in their journals about what they learned. The students are looking forward to going back to the garden in the spring to see what other crops are growing.

Free Store at GV!

We are planning a Free Store in the gym on December 17th for all GV families and staff members. This will be a unique opportunity to connect with those in our community while purging some of the things taking up room in our homes. With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s a perfect time to get rid of old toys no longer in use, so that others might give them a new life! Anything left over at the end of the day will be donated to a local charity.

If you have any items you’d like to contribute to the Free Store, or if you’d like to lend a hand on the day of, please contact Heather. We hope this trial run will be a success and we can try this again the future. Thank you in advance, and we hope to see you there on…

Thursday, Dec. 17,  2:30 – 5:00 p.m. in the GV Gym.

Clothing Exchange

Our free clothing exchange will be open for the first time this Thursday, Dec. 10th, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.  Please enter the gym through the outside doors and join us in storage room #1 to share and or pick up free clothing.
