Principal / Vice Principal’s Message

Remember that Monday, May 30th is a Professional Development day and classes are not in session.  Staff will be at GV learning more about Aboriginal Education and planning for next school year.

Teachers will begin early and tentative class organization work for 2016/2017.  It is important that we create balanced classes where we consider the following:  student’s birthdate, gender, strengths, areas for further development, special needs, language skills, behaviour, friendships, social/emotional abilities, personal interests, learning style, previous grade combinations, parental request, etc.

If you wish to make a particular class placement request which describes your child’s program needs (not naming a particular teacher), please submit your request in writing to Mr. Dekerf by June 10th.

On Wednesday we sent home a print newsletter to all families.  Please return the tear-off portion, which will be entered into a prize draw.

We look forward to welcoming our incoming Kindergarten students and their families to GV on Wednesday morning between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.   This is also our panorama, class and team photo day!

Building Community

BUILDING COMMUNITY

This week Kindergarten students have been designing structures. We have been exploring with cups to figure out how creative we can be with our building. The focus is to cooperate as a group, to share the materials and to be respectful of each other’s ideas and work.

School Fees – continued

Musical Instruments: Grade 4 students may learn to play the recorder. Students will have the option of purchasing one through our music teacher for $10 or receiving one on loan from the school.   Also, our Grade 7 students who opt for/take band either purchase or rent an instrument. Costs vary depending on the instrument.
