Principal / Vice Principal’s Message
This will be an exciting week at GV as we prepare for Diwali celebrations this Friday and Halloween the following Monday.
Congratulations to our GV Cross Country Team for practicing regularly and attending meets at Bear Creek Park. Thanks to our group of teacher coaches and our friends at Horizon Church for providing bussing.
We look forward to celebrating Diwali this Friday, Oct. 28th at school. A school wide assembly will take place at 9:00 a.m. , staff luncheon at 11:45, and students will receive a pizza treat at 12:05. Everyone is welcome to dress for this special occasion.
Halloween is fast approaching! Students and families are reminded that replica or toy weapons are not allowed at school even if they are a part of their Halloween costumes.
As per Safe & Caring Schools Policy 9410 & Regulation 9410.1 – “It is expected that students will not use, possess or display any weapon, replica weapon or toy weapon, on any school property or at any event that is organized or sponsored by a school.”
Scaredy Squirrel’s Halloween Safety Message
Students are welcome to wear appropriate costumes to school on Halloween day. Primary students and families are invited to our Halloween Parade, 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 31, in the gym.
Please be reminded that there is no parking permitted on 70th Ave. and drivers should not be dropping off students at the corner of 70th Ave. and 141 St. Also, the two main school parking lots are for Staff Only.
All teachers at GV continue to use FreshGrade as our way of Communicating Student Learning. Teachers share information about student learning on an ongoing and regular basis. Learning is continuous and not divided into terms. We offer students descriptive feedback on learning rather than focussing on letter grades. Please see your child’s teacher or Mr. Dekerf with any questions about our school values and beliefs related to communicating student learning with digital portfolios.
