Principal / Vice Principal’s Message

It is hard to believe that this is our final week at school for 2016!  Students can look forward to lots of  festive learning as we continue Genius Jar guessing, Food Bank donations, holiday art, and possibly more  fun in the snow!

Thursday, Dec. 15th will be particularly exciting with our extended recess, treats for staff, Christmas Spirit day, school-wide Sing-a-Long and Grade 7 band performance.  There will also be a very special surprise for every student in the school from our friends at Horizon Church!

Staffing Update:  We are very pleased to let you know that Mr. Newbold will continue as our Acting Vice Principal, until further notice.  Also, Ms. Perry and Ms. Fei will continue in their positions, until further notice.

PAC Thank You!

Sincere thanks to our PAC team for treating the Vanier Staff to a wonderful holiday luncheon last Friday.  This was also a hot lunch day for students.  We greatly appreciate our hardworking and dedicated PAC members!

FreshGrade and Early Dismissal

Thank you to the many students and family members who were able to come into the school last Thursday during our early dismissal day to engage further in conversations around student learning and progress.  We appreciate your time, interest and willingness to support your child’s development.

Georges Vanier Staff Give

Our generous GV staff support students, families and the wider community in many ways.  Last week staff collected new toys for the Surrey Christmas Bureau.  We appreciate our GV Staff!

Gathering STEAM in the Learning Commons

This week in the Learning Commons, students got creative by blending Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Some classes learned about Binary Code. Binary Code represents computer data using any two-symbol system, often 0 and 1. It is the language of computers. Students used guides to create strings of beads that show their initials in binary code.
