Principal / Vice Principal’s Message

We wish all of our students and families the very best of the season.  Merry Christmas, safe holidays and Happy New Year!

West Coast Recess

At GV and most Surrey Schools, students play outside during the two recess breaks.  It is always  important that students are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions of the day.  In snowy cold weather; winter boots, warm waterproof jackets, toques, mitts, snow pants, and layers of clothing will ensure that your child is warm, dry and comfortable during outside play times.

Dance In School

Once again, this year, we are very fortunate to have Joanne Fetchko back at GV.

“Dance In School” brings current and modern dance into lower mainland elementary schools. Each grade (K – 7) is taught a unique group dance routine during the week-long program. At the end of the week, all students proudly perform for parents, teachers and other classes.

All of our music is selected from current and popular songs (age appropriate of course!) and choreographed to popular forms of dance including Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre”

Funds raised by PAC will pay for a large portion of this program, but we are also asking each child to bring $2 to help pay the remainder of our costs.  Please expect two notices in the New Year.

Girl Power Bake Sale

Please help support out CSP Girl Power bake sale in the New Year!  Bring some loonies and toonies to the Multipurpose Room on Friday, January 6th.  All fund raised will help support Atira Housing.

Learning Commons News

This week, students completed the finishing touches to their group engineered Christmas Trees by adding some decorations and lights. It was a great co-operative project.

We introduced a MightyGirls project with the 5/6 classes. This will be a long term exploration of the power of education and the rights of gender equality. We will be investigating powerful role models and sharing our learning by making dolls and digital creations using green screen and video.

A reminder to please return library books in the new year before taking any long term vacations out of the country. And a special thanks to the wonderful library monitors that have been helping shelve the books in the library.
