Principal / Vice Principal’s Message
We hope that all of our students and families enjoyed a safe and enjoyable summer break.  We look forward to reconnect with everyone on Tuesday, Sept. 4th for one hour from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

We Are All Connected

During the first 1-2 weeks of school, students will be meeting in grade groups and exploring our “We Are All Connected” theme.  Please see the map below to know where to enter the school on opening day.

  • What you need to know about opening day of school Sept. 4!

More than 73,000 students in the Surrey School District will head back to class on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Grades 1-7 classes at all elementary schools begin at 10 a.m. but will end earlier than usual on opening day. Students at Georges Vanier will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m.   Parents / guardians are invited into the gym for an information session.

Kindergarten students are on a gradual entry schedule for the first week of school, so start dates and times will need to be verified at each school. All kindergarteners will be in full-day attendance by Monday, Sept. 17.

Secondary schools have a shortened first day as well and again, start and end times vary from school to school, often depending on grade. (Click on link below for more information).

Opening class times and dates also vary at learning centres and should be confirmed with individual sites.

Detailed information about the opening day of school, as well as registration information for students who are new to Surrey Schools, is available HERE.

Student Planner:  We encourage all students in Grades 1-7 to purchase a School Planner at a cost of $5.00. Included in the planner is our school code of conduct, school calendar and school district information. We find this to be an excellent tool for facilitating home/school communication, as well as for developing our students’ organizational skills.

Teachers will begin collecting Planner money when students are assigned to classes during the second week of school.
