Principal / Vice Principal’s Message

As you may be aware, it is common School District practice to move school Principals after a number of years at a school.  I recently learned that I will be transferred to Rosemary Heights Elementary, effective January 1st 2019.

It has been an honour and privilege to serve as the Principal at Georges Vanier for the past 4.5 years. It will be difficult to say goodbye to the students, staff and families that I have come to know and care deeply about.

The school can look forward to welcoming a very capable and experienced Principal, Ms. Carrie Burton, for the coming months as the District completes it’s search for a continuing Principal at Georges Vanier.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories over the years and for supporting our learners and school in many meaningful ways.  You have made my time at Georges Vanier a highlight in my career.

Technology Use Policy

At Georges Vanier, we continue to promote positive digital citizenship within our classrooms.  Digital citizenship is the ability to use technology in an appropriate, productive and responsible way. Students may have personal electronic devices at school, with parent and teacher permission; however, they are expected to follow the expectations below:

  • Students are responsible for keeping their device safe. The school is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen devices.
  • Students are not permitted to use electronic devices at recess or lunch.
  • Cyberbullying or inappropriate messages should be reported immediately.
  • Students should not take photos or videos of others or post information about others without permission.
  • When accessing the internet or social media apps, students should follow the school district internet usage policy including not accessing inappropriate material and not posting personal or identifying information.
  • Use of a personal device at school is optional, at parent discretion. Bringing a personal electronic device to school is never mandatory.
